While sharing memories with different people, I developed the idea of using fabric supplied by the customer--fabric that has emotional importance for them, a family member or a friend--for the inspiration of a project. The fabric may be from a favorite dress worn by a child in earlier years, a grandmother's tatting edged handkerchief, or a deceased grandfather's often used tie. Even a much loved and worn bathrobe has been used effectively this way. Dolls and doll clothes can be fashioned this way, but sometimes another object, such as a pillow, purse, hat, or wall hanging is more appropriate. Sometimes a hobby or activity sparks the idea and sometimes the nature of the fabric itself it the key to design.
